For Media Manager & Visual Content Creator

Job Description

You’re a creative powerhouse who values personal development (and doesn’t think it’s weird or “woo-woo”).

You get fired up about empowering others and making the world a more equitable place. And because you’re a detail-oriented artist, you express these passions through thoughtful, inspiring, and stand-out visual content.

This position’s primary focus will be to:

  • Understand our company’s vision, values, and voice – and translate them into a fun and engaging brand aesthetic
  • Create top-notch media – in the form of graphic imagery, bite-size videos, and Insta stories
  • Publish this content across our social media channels and weekly blog
  • Manage our content calendar and relevant internal communications
  • Expand our following and level of engagement

Our ideal Media Manager & Visual Content Creator will come to the team with graphic design, video editing, and media management experience. (Bonus points if you know how to analyze social media metrics and can apply user engagement insights to your creative process.)

Our ideal candidate would be able to jump in and make an immediate contribution – unafraid of asking a million questions, making bold, brand-aligned choices, receiving feedback, and incorporating other people’s ideas.

Finally, this position is for you if reading this makes you say, “Holy moly – that’s ME!”:

  • You thrive in a fast-paced, creative environment.
  • You’re 1,000% comfortable working in a virtual environment.
  • You’re highly organized, creative, self-directed, and possibility-driven (not problem-derailed).
  • You’re practically always on time (or early) and strive to deliver ahead of deadlines.
  • You can think big-picture and also love rolling around in the nitty-gritty.
  • You’re not overly attached to your ego or your first draft of anything — you’re intent on developing and executing on the best ideas to get the best results.
  • You do great work autonomously and can collaborate easily and effectively with a team (you’ll need to do both here!)
  • You’re known for taking ownership of a project and seeing it through from beginning to end.
  • You don’t make lame excuses. Instead, you own your mistakes (you’re human! We all make ‘em) and trust that our team is a place where you’re not expected to be perfect (how boring!) – you’re just expected to be honest, proactive, and highly communicative.
  • You’re a born GO-GETTER — always striving to add value, do better, be better, build others up, and make the world a better place.

This is currently a part-time position (10-20 hours/week) with strong potential to evolve into a full-time Director role.

Please don’t apply if you manage your own agency, are building your own online business, currently have other clients that take up more than 30 hours/week. You won’t be considered for the role if this is true for you.

This is a remote position as part of a completely remote team.

Meaning, you get to work in your own space, blast music if ya feel like it, rub your pup’s belly, and not deal with ‘getting dressed up for work’ or commuting to an office every day. You’ll report directly to our CEO, while also working closely with other key members of the team.

We’re not your average company (learn more about Brenne and our behind-the-scenes culture below).

We always make sure our team members have plenty of freedom and flexibility to live their best lives, rest, recharge, and have fun (major perks of working as a remote team!)

That being said, we also really care about the work and the community we’re serving. That means, the occasional night and weekend check-ins during “launch weeks” (emphasis on occasional because we’re all about respecting your time and preserving the boundaries between work time and everything-else-that-makes-up-your-beautiful-life time!)

Duties & Responsibilities:

The number one goal of this position is to create content that:

  • aligns with our organizational vision
  • speaks to our audience’s biggest challenges and blind spots
  • offers practical solutions that will lead them to experience massive self-awareness, growth, and authentic confidence
  • acknowledges how steep the learning curve can be
  • makes our community feel seen, represented, and not alone
  • inspires them to turn our powerful insights into action in their own lives

In addition, you’ll be responsible for overseeing our content calendar and communicating with the team – to make sure you have what you need (i.e., copy, proofreads, internal reviews, etc.) to publish on-time and keep us on track.

Skills & Abilities:

Our ideal candidate possesses the following strengths and skills:

  • A minimum of 1 full year of experience creating visual content in a professional setting. You must have a track record as a highly creative, adaptive, and efficient social media manager and content creator. This includes: creating graphics (we use/love Canva), editing videos, working with copy, and managing content for other business(es). Bonus points if you’ve managed content for another coaching company or personal brand.
  • An understanding of the importance of practical, authenticity-centered, high-quality content in the professional development space. (We don’t do cheesy or fluffy bumper sticker stuff. We provide practical tools and action-oriented insights – to help our audience build useful skills and develop undeniable confidence.)
  • Ability to communicate effectively, with openness and empathy, in all formats – both as a collaborator and as a visual storyteller.
  • Excellent organization and time-management skills (post-it notes, planners, and Google docs are your best friends)
  • A genuine interest in the power of personal development – both for yourself and others
  • Adaptive when it comes to sudden scheduling changes or a quick turnaround

If you want to step into a highly-creative and collaborative position that helps empower people, both personally and professionally… And, you’re interested in the opportunity to grow into a Director role as we scale our business, this just might be the role for you!

Job Description

You’re an intuitive, highly-empathetic, word wizard who can channel a specific voice into clear, compelling copy.

You’re a creative powerhouse who values personal development (and doesn’t think it’s weird or “woo-woo”).

You get fired up about empowering others and making the world a more equitable place. And because you’re a detail-oriented wordsmith and a brand-messaging-conduit, you express these passions through creating thoughtful, relatable, and motivational copy.

This position’s primary focus will be to:

  • Understand our company’s vision, values, and voice – and translate them into clear, actionable, brand-aligned copy.
  • Understand and write directly to our ideal customer’s mindset, pain points, values and goals – with empathy, encouragement, and a sense of humor.
  • Extract key takeaways from pre-existing curriculum and translate them into weekly blog posts.
  • Help nurture our community by writing quick, engaging weekly email blasts, clickable headlines and subject lines, program-specific subscriber sequences, persuasive promotional campaigns, social media captions, insta story copy, and website content.
  • Provide world-class value to our audience – through clear, compelling copy – with the least sleazy approach to converting readers into email subscribers and email subscribers into beloved clients and students.
  • Stay on top of our content calendar and relevant internal communications – so that we’re able to review and publish our marketing materials on time.

Our ideal Copywriter will come to the team with professional copywriting experience. Bonus points if you’ve worked in a content strategy or marketing role before and know how to write with SEO in mind.

  • Highly attentive to details – you wouldn’t let typos or glaring grammar mistakes get by you.

About our company and how we roll

At SelfSpoken, we empower big-hearted, go-getting individuals and teams to build the practical skills they need to communicate clearly, with undeniable expertise – while also staying true to their authentic, one-of-a-kind selves.

We do this through virtual group coaching programs, small (but mighty!) team training packages, one-on-one coaching, and free online masterclasses.

Behind the scenes, we hold each other to a high standard.

We strive to be thoughtful, intentional, and excellent at everything we do.

We also laugh A LOT and keep each other grounded.

We don’t take ourselves too seriously.

We communicate challenges and setbacks in a direct and compassionate way. And because of this, we never let resentment or weirdness fester.

When it’s not “work time,” we feel completely FREE and detached from work.

When we’re in “work mode,” we’re all in the zone, getting sh*t done (with intention and heart), and we trust each other to be fully present and available for creative collaboration.

Finally, we’re punctual people.

We show up for each other, our clients, and our publications on time.

Of course, things happen, but aside from the occasional emergency or surprise delay, we don’t do personal drama or chronic lateness.

We value the level of talent amongst us. (It’s off the charts!) And while we give each other lots of feedback and challenge each other to think outside the box, we never put each other down, and we always strive to understand each other, celebrate each other, and lift each other up.

Our core values – the ones we don’t just profess, but practice on the daily!

  • Clear is kind.
  • We balance taking ownership with fluid, collaborative communication.
  • We look for possibilities instead of problems.
  • We value progress over perfection.
  • For every action, there’s an equal and opposite reaction. Intention is everything.
  • When you’re here, be fully here. When you’re not here, do your thing!
  • Use your gifts, have fun, and keep it real.
